Overview

Mistral Vibe is the current name of the product previously known as Le Chat. Mistral AI brought its conversational assistant and coding agent together under the Vibe brand while preserving existing conversations, settings, and plans. The chat.mistral.ai address remains valid, and the product is organized around work and coding experiences. Accounts still being migrated may continue to display legacy Chat elements.

The tool supports people who need quick answers, web research, summaries, and content creation, as well as professionals working with documents, data, connected tools, and codebases. Vibe combines context from prompts, files, the web, and connectors, breaks work into steps, displays tool calls, and lets users review results before reusing them.

The interface may vary during the gradual migration of Chat and Work. The free plan has usage limits, while paid plans remain subject to fair-use policies. Connectors and features may also depend on the plan, organizational permissions, and authentication with external services. As with other generative assistants, important answers and sources should be reviewed by a person before they inform consequential decisions.

Features and functionality

  • Fast conversations and multi-step tasks: switch between direct answers and more involved work depending on the Vibe experience available to the account.
  • Web research and deep research: search for information, open public URLs, and organize analyses with sources. Pages behind a login, paywall, or technical restriction may not be accessible.
  • Files, Canvas, and knowledge base: work with documents and spreadsheets, analyze or transform content, and review deliverables in an editable workspace.
  • Skills, Workflows, and scheduling: reuse instructions, run multi-step flows, and schedule recurring tasks in compatible plans and environments.
  • Connectors and MCP: connect work tools and knowledge sources. Mistral lists a catalog of more than 100 connectors and support for MCP servers.
  • Voice, images, and multimodal input: accept voice and files and provide image generation and editing within the account's limits.
  • Coding assistance: use Vibe for coding in the terminal, IDE, and remote sessions to explore repositories, edit files, and carry out development tasks.
  • Execution controls: review tool calls, approve sensitive actions, and guide or interrupt the workflow.

Use cases

  • Research and synthesis: investigate a topic, gather public sources, and turn the material into a reviewable summary, brief, or report.
  • Document production: create and edit text, presentations, spreadsheets, reports, and other materials from instructions and reference files.
  • Connected work routines: consult and organize information from email, calendars, workplace chat, storage, and project tools when the required connectors are available and authorized.
  • Recurring automation: build workflows and scheduled tasks for repeatable processes while retaining human review points where needed.
  • Software development: analyze a codebase, implement changes, generate tests, and work from the terminal, editor, or compatible remote agents.

How to use

  1. Visit chat.mistral.ai, create an account, or sign in with an existing Le Chat account.
  2. Select the experience available to your account. In migrated accounts, Chat and Work appear in a unified Vibe experience. Coding features may also be accessed through the web, CLI, or an IDE.
  3. Describe the outcome you want and add context with files, links, or authorized connectors when needed.
  4. Follow the plan and tool calls, approve sensitive actions only after checking their scope, and review the result, sources, and generated files.
  5. For coding, install the Vibe CLI or use a compatible IDE integration. Availability and limits depend on the plan.

Required experience level

Conversation, research, and content creation are accessible to beginners. Configuring connectors, workflows, automation, MCP, and coding tasks requires intermediate or advanced familiarity, especially when Vibe can act in external tools or modify a codebase.

Integrations

Mistral lists more than 100 connectors, including email, calendars, Slack, Notion, Google Drive, SharePoint, GitHub, Linear, and Jira, along with MCP compatibility. Availability depends on the plan, region, administrative permissions, authentication, and organizational policies. Coding access includes the CLI, VS Code, remote sessions, and editor integrations documented by Mistral.

Plans and access

  • Free: limited access to Vibe, including conversations, search, creation, and coding sessions within current quotas.
  • Pro: higher limits, more complex tasks, deeper reasoning, and coding throughout the day, subject to fair use.
  • Team: a paid collaborative workspace with administrative controls and additional storage.
  • Enterprise: custom contracts with private deployment options, custom models and agents, auditing, and dedicated support.
