Replit Agent

Visit

Replit Agent is Replit's cloud-integrated creation and development agent that turns natural language requests into web and mobile applications, visual prototypes, dashboards, and automations. It plans the architecture, sets up the database and authentication, writes the code, runs tests, and deploys the project within a single environment.

Overview

Replit Agent is the autonomous agent built into the Replit platform, designed to turn natural language descriptions into functional software and production-ready digital artifacts. Instead of requiring manual setup of servers, dependencies, or local code editors, it manages the entire lifecycle inside the browser or mobile app, moving from initial draft to live production deployment.

The tool serves both non-programmers looking to bring products, internal tools, or prototypes to life, and developers or teams aiming to accelerate delivery with full code access. Before modifying files or databases, users can enable Plan mode to break complex requests into an ordered task list, compare technical approaches, and approve the scope. During construction, the system creates automatic checkpoints and tests application behavior, making it safe to roll the project back to any prior state.

A core differentiator of the environment is combining multiple artifact types within the same project while sharing the same backend and data. Users can start by sketching screens in the Design Canvas or Visual Editor, convert the layout into a web application, add a mobile version, generate slide decks, or create recurring workflows connected to enterprise tools. Additionally, operating mode controls allow switching between everyday tasks included in the plan allowance and higher-compute modes that ask for confirmation before consuming credits.

Features and functionality

  • Plan mode: structures complex projects into ordered task lists, evaluates technical paths, and lets you review the plan before modifying code or data.
  • Built-in infrastructure and backend: automatically provisions a PostgreSQL database, file storage, user authentication, and custom domains directly on Replit's cloud.
  • Design Canvas and Visual Editor: generates screens and prototypes from prompts, imports references such as Figma frames, applies standardized design systems, and enables direct click-to-edit adjustments for colors, text, and layouts.
  • Multiple artifacts in a single project: combines web apps, mobile apps, slide presentations, data visualizations, and documents sharing the same codebase and underlying data.
  • Checkpoints, testing, and rollback: verifies its own work during execution and records restore points after each completed task to simplify rollbacks if errors occur.
  • Capacity modes and background tasks: offers adjustable modes matched to task effort (Free Mode, Auto, Power, and Max), alongside Kanban board organization, scheduled routines, and reusable Agent Skills.

Use cases

  • Building web and mobile apps from scratch: develop SaaS products, Shopify-integrated stores, iOS and Android apps with guided publishing, and customer portals with login and Stripe payments.
  • Visual prototyping and product validation: explore UI variations on the Design Canvas, refine aesthetics without touching code, and convert approved prototypes into interactive applications.
  • Dashboards and internal data tools: connect spreadsheets, SQL databases, or data warehouses like BigQuery and Snowflake to generate monitoring dashboards and operational reports.
  • Workflow automation and recurring routines: schedule tasks that query tools such as Slack, HubSpot, Linear, GitHub, and Google Workspace to consolidate information and send periodic summaries.
  • Collaborative team development: work in shared workspaces where multiple team members delegate parallel tasks to the agent on top of the same project foundation.

How to use

  1. Sign in to your Replit account via browser or mobile app and describe in the chat box the application, design, dashboard, or workflow you want to create, attaching files or visual references if needed.
  2. Optionally enable Plan mode to review the task list proposed by the agent, adjust requirements, and approve the strategy before coding begins.
  3. Follow the build in real time in the preview window, use the Visual Editor or Design Canvas to refine the interface, and connect integrations such as databases, authentication, or external services when prompted.
  4. Review the generated checkpoints, test the application's behavior, and click publish to make the project live on a public URL or custom domain.

Required experience level

Accessible across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Users with no coding background can create, visually refine, and publish complete applications through natural language conversation. At the same time, product, data, and engineering professionals have direct access to project files, Git version control, PostgreSQL databases, MCP connectors, and custom skills for advanced technical scenarios.

Integrations

Replit Agent operates across four integration layers. The first encompasses native platform-managed services, including Replit Database (PostgreSQL), Replit App Storage, Replit Auth, and Replit Domains. The second provides direct connectors for business and developer tools such as Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, and Gmail), Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, Outlook, and SharePoint), GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Linear, Jira, Asana, Slack, Discord, Notion, Airtable, Stripe, RevenueCat, Shopify, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zendesk, BigQuery, Snowflake, and Databricks. The third lets you configure any third-party API using your own keys, while the fourth supports extensibility through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and instruction packages via Agent Skills.

Plans and pricing

The platform combines an entry-level free tier with effort-based paid subscriptions. The free plan (Starter) lets users try the agent with daily usage limits, access to the Design Canvas and Visual Editor, and temporary publishing. Paid plans (Core and Pro) provide a recurring allowance in Free Mode for everyday creations and edits, monthly credits for AI usage and cloud services, Plan mode, external connectors, multiple artifacts, collaboration, and background tasks. When a request requires higher-capacity paid modes (Power or Max), the system asks for confirmation upfront and deducts credits per completed checkpoint based on delivery complexity, while providing spend alerts and hard budget caps in the account dashboard. An Enterprise tier is available for organizations requiring model governance, SSO, and advanced team controls.
